In mining and tunneling shotcrete is absolutely crucial. ”Shotcrete what?” you ask. Well it’s simply a machine that sprays the tunnel walls with fluid concrete to prevent them from caving in. In 2016 Atlas Copco acquired the most accurate shotcrete in the market, Meyco ME5. The challenge here is to show off the new family member in an innovative way - to make something seemingly boring stand out and even WOW people.
The mining and tunneling fairs are extremely traditional. The machines are showcased, surrounded by brochures and dealers. We decided to create interaction with potential customers instead. We invented a game - challenging people to engage in the product - at fairs and online.
To bring the anonymous shotcrete into the spotlight we let people compete with this immensely accurate beast. The question was ”are you as accurate as Meyco ME5?”. The task is to spray the tunnel walls as accurate as possible on time. The stress level is insane, powered by Grieg’s "In the hall of the Mountain King”, dollars counting down and energetic visuals by illustrator Clara Terne.
The game Concrete Accuracy is still a newborn awaiting to reach out fully. However the launch at the important Bauma Fair in Munich was a great success letting people actually interact, with the product, each other and the dealers.
